Old Warden Scale Weekend

It was a Old Warden event some 12 years ago where Al made his first flight at a public event. For this reason Al has a strong affinity with any events held at this picturesque venue, and always makes an effort to attend their events no matter how big or small.

The Scale day is an event that has been running for as long as we can remember, and although not the biggest event it always has bags of atmosphere and those that go always seem to enjoy the day. This year Al took a small selection of models to display. The Cougar was unfortunately grounded due to a technical hiccup, and the Raven went U/S after a quite spectacular engine failure. Luckily this was at a safe height and no damage was sustained. It also happened on the last flight of the last day so it was able to perform its intense and loud display both days.

The model that seemed to get most attention was Al’s new electric Tucano. Most people were surprised just how much performance this large scale all composite model had. It did so well that it picked up the award for best post war model. Al was delighted to receive the obligatory tin pot, but what came as a real surprise was the second part of the award…Al received a flight in one of the Old Warden aircraft, hopefully we can bring you some coverage of this vent when Al gets time to collect his prize.
